Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

ASPUR allows the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools to a limited extent, provided that such use complies with high standards of copyright protection, confidentiality, and data security.

Authors are fully accountable for the originality, validity, and integrity of their submissions. All content must meet the required standards of rigorous scientific research and scholarly assessment and must remain under the responsibility of the authors. If AI tools are used, authors must ensure that these tools are appropriate, reliable, and compliant with applicable requirements regarding intellectual property, confidentiality, and data protection.

Generative AI tools must not be listed as authors, as they are unable to take responsibility for the content or manage copyright and licensing obligations.

Permitted use of AI tools

ASPUR allows the use of AI tools in the following limited cases:
- Idea generation and conceptual exploration,
- Language editing and improvement,
- Literature search and classification,
- Interactive support through large language models.

Authors must clearly disclose any use of AI tools in the manuscript. This statement should be included in the Materials and Methods section and must specify:
- the full name of the tool (including version),
- how the tool was used,
- the purpose of its use.

If the manuscript does not contain a Materials and Methods section, this information should be included in the Acknowledgments section.

Prohibited use of AI tools

The following uses of Generative AI are not permitted:
- Replacing core research or authorship responsibilities,
- Generating synthetic data without a validated and transparent methodology,
- Producing inaccurate or misleading content (including abstracts or supplementary materials),
- Generating text without proper critical revision by the authors.

The use of Generative AI tools for the creation or manipulation of images, figures, or original research data is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to:
- images, charts, tables, medical imagery,
- code snippets or formulas,
- any modification such as adding, removing, altering, or enhancing features.

Editors and reviewers

Editors and reviewers must not upload unpublished manuscripts or any part of them into Generative AI tools, as this may compromise confidentiality and intellectual property.

Generative AI may be used only to assist with language improvement. Reviewers remain fully responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and quality of their reviews.
